What Is Scoliosis?

Scoliosis is a condition where the spine curves abnormally, often appearing like an “S” or “C” shape. It can affect posture, cause discomfort, and in severe cases, lead to other health complications if left untreated. At the South Florida Scoliosis Center, we specialize in diagnosing and treating scoliosis in children, teens, and adults using advanced, non-invasive techniques. With personalized care plans, our goal is to help you or your loved ones live comfortably and confidently.

Types of Scoliosis

Mild scoliosis refers to a small, yet noticeable curve in the spine, typically between 10-20 degrees. While it often doesn’t cause pain or major physical issues, it’s important to monitor as it can progress over time, especially during growth spurts in children and teens. Early detection and proactive treatment are key to preventing further curvature.

At South Florida Scoliosis Center, we use the innovative CLEAR™ method, offering the only mild scoliosis treatment program available today. CLEAR’s non-invasive, proactive approach is specifically designed to meet the needs of patients with developing scoliosis. The CLEAR™ program has successfully corrected thousands of mild scoliosis curves, allowing your child to reduce and stabilize their spinal curve before it progresses.

Moderate scoliosis refers to a spinal curve ranging from 20-40 degrees. At this stage, the curvature becomes more noticeable, potentially causing back pain, changes in posture, and limited movement. For years, bracing has been the most common treatment for moderate scoliosis, with many doctors recommending soft or rigid braces to halt curve progression. However, recent studies have begun to question the effectiveness of this practice. In some cases, forced correction from a brace can increase rib deformity (rib hump), and any benefits are often lost once the brace is removed. In fact, a 2007 article in the journal Spine graded bracing with a “D” for its ability to stop curve progression.

At South Florida Scoliosis Center, we offer the CLEAR™ program as a safe and effective alternative to bracing. CLEAR’s moderate scoliosis protocol is well tolerated by patients of all ages and not only stabilizes the curve but can also lead to significant scoliosis reduction without the risks associated with bracing.

Severe scoliosis involves a spinal curve of more than 40 degrees, which can cause significant physical changes, chronic pain, and, in some cases, impact lung and heart function. This advanced curvature often leads to visible deformities, restricted movement, and requires prompt, comprehensive treatment.

At South Florida Scoliosis Center, we utilize the cutting-edge techniques developed by the CLEAR™ Institute, which has conducted exclusive research into more effective treatment methods for severe scoliosis. This includes specialized rehabilitation equipment, custom treatment plans, and protocols, as well as breakthroughs in bio-vibration technology. These advancements provide a safer and more effective treatment alternative for curves above 40 degrees, helping patients manage and reduce their spinal curvature without invasive surgery.

I’m impressed with Doctor Greaux and his experience with Scoliosis. Most Chiropractors are passionate about health and well being, but to get the CLEAR training to treat and educate his patients is an honest dedication to natural health. I’m so happy and grateful we found him!
